The top five hairstyles for fine hair are:
1. The Bob – it can vary from very short above your ear lobes to a longer cut. Make sure it suits your face shape, if chosen wisely, it can certainly make hair look twice as abundant.
2. The Chop – cut above shoulder length and with irregular ends, it lends shape and style to your lifeless hair. The tangle hassles of your fine hair are solved as this is a very easy to maintain hairstyle.
3. The Cap Cut – if you have an oval face, this is the cut for you. Add bangs all over and be ready to be finally proud of healthy and bouncy hair.
4. The Crop – if you are young and have a flawless skin and matching beautiful eyes, get a crop cut. This may play havoc with you if you are older than, say, 40. With younger women it enhances your eyes and gives the impression of abundant hair.
5. Mid-length layer – up to your shoulders or a little below it, this cut with its diagonal and light layers at the side will add a lot of style and volume to your fine hair. When you blow dry, the layers add a lot of fluffiness owing to the angle they are cut in.
A number of celebrities have fine hair, some abundantly while others sparsely. They do however, bowl us over with their hair cuts and styling. It is obvious we want to imitate our favorite stars, make sure the cut suits your face shape and facial features before taking the plunge. Get yourself an ‘aware’ stylist and be ready for a stylish cut despite your fine hair with its painful history.

If you ask anybody with fine hair what their biggest worry is, chances are the answer would be: volume. Fine hair simply lacks the volume and bounce you would want in your hair. Despite a latest cut and several stylizing products later, my hair hangs limp and lifeless. My hair is soft and silky, beautiful to the touch and my friends say they envy it, but only I know what I go through every morning trying to put on a style to last the day! What I needed were techniques to add more fullness and body to fine hair and not a whole lot of bottles of ‘fine hair’ shampoo and conditioners.

I am sure I am not the only one suffering from the: ‘what do I do with my hair every morning?’ syndrome. These are few tips I have tried and which have worked. I am a different person now. A surprise party or a blind date, I am not afraid of how I look anymore. Let me share some of these tricks and techniques to add more fullness and body to fine hair with you. If you have long hair, wash them in the night and blow dry them with your head upside down directing heat at the roots. Now tie them in a high pony tail and sleep like that. When you undo your hair the next morning, you will be happy and amazed with the amount of fluffiness added.

For the waves to last longer, put Velcro curlers in them while they cool down after blow drying.

Building up a rough texture is another technique to ad more fullness and body to fine hair. Texture comes from the natural oils in your hair, however too frequent washing gets rid of them. If possible wash your hair only when dirty or every second or third day. Well, it just is not possible for most of us, in that case, try spritzing some salt water solution on the roots of your hair. As the water dries, salt will ling to your hair roots, adding roughness and volume to your fine hair.

Another One of the ‘at home’ techniques to add more fullness and body to fine hair is to use a banana mask on your hair. Mash one ripe banana into one spoon of olive oil, mix it well and spread over your hair. Put on a shower cap and wrap a towel around it to add warmth. Rinse well after 30 minutes, this is bound to add shine and volume to your fine hair.

• Styling products – after shampooing and conditioning your hair, it is important that you either blow dry them or better still allow them to air dry on their own. This is when you need a styling product to care for fine hair. Products like the Bumble and Bumble PREP add bounce into your limp hair. It is like a leave-in conditioner and will make fine hair less tangled and more manageable. Kerastese Resistance Volumactive conditioning Mousse can be added to the roots while blow drying your hair. This will add strength and thickness to your lifeless fine hair.
